Meet Dr. Kuyateh

Hello. I’m Dr. Fatmatta Kuyateh, (pronounced ‘koo-yah-tay’) affectionately known as Dr. K by my patients. I am a medical doctor with a passion for improving lives through compassionate health care. I am dual board certified in Family Medicine and Preventive Medicine and have dedicated my career to providing extraordinary personalized care to my patients.

I have over 15 years of experience practicing medicine across the globe from the USA to Japan, South America, and the Caribbean. This exposure to diverse cultures had enriched my understanding of what it means to treat the whole human being. I am truly passionate about spending quality time with my patients and building close relationships with them. By combining my expertise with my passion, I aim to create a comfortable and trusting environment for my patients, to help them achieve their best health and quality of life.

I’m a proud veteran, honored to have served in the US Navy. In my spare time, I love to spend time with my family, volunteer for non profits that provide access to care in low resource areas around the globe, cook, read, and practice my Salsa, Bachata and Kizomba moves.

‘kanoo’ means ‘love’…

… in my ancestors native language, Mandinka. It is also a play on the pronunciation of my maternal grandmother’s name. So this is personal for me.

My practice, Kanoo Health, is based on love; my love for the art and practice of clinical medicine; my love for community; my love for interpersonal and meaningful relationships created between myself and my patients; and my love of healthy living and quality of life. Working in the health-insurance based model of medicine for several years has brought to light the ineffectiveness of the system in producing better health outcomes for my patients, a model that is more productive for bottom line than for what really matters….the patient.

At Kanoo Health, the middle man is no longer in control and I am able to focus on each patient with as much time as needed and work with each individual to reach their health goals. I have time to listen, time to learn, time to just be your doctor, and time to love clinical medicine all over. And it makes a world of difference for my patients, when they know their doctor is truly invested in them, and is their biggest health advocate.

If you’d like to learn more about me and my practice, you can schedule a free 15-minute information session by filling out our information form here. There is no charge for this session and no commitment. Just an opportunity to get to know more about me, Dr. K, and my philosophy of medicine.
